The Sideways Mosaic

Mosaic Number 2. The sideways Mosaic.

Time to make your second mosaic. This one makes a great decoration, and looks very rustic.

Materials Needed-

  • 1/2" - 3/4" Plywood

  • 1X2 Trim Pieces

  • Ceramic Tile of your choosing

  • Grout, Of what ever color you like

  • Wood Glue

  • Barbed Wire

  • A tin star of cross(or anything else you want as centerpiece)

  • Small, Finishing Nails

  • Paper Towels

  • Empty Coffee Can

  • Sponge

Tools Needed-

  • Jigsaw, or Wall saw

  • Midorsaw or Router(If no trim pieces were purchased)
  • Clamps if using router

  • Hammer

  • Measuring Tape

  • Pencil/Pen

  • T-Square(Or something else thats long and straight)
    Stain

  • Gloss(Optional)
  • Paintbrush

Directions-

Measure how big you want your new mosaic to be. The one shown above is 2ft long X 10" tall. Just remeber that you want your length to be about 2 times that of your heigth. (Just make sure your star is going to fit in the frame)

Cut that bad boy out on with your jig or wall saw.

Measure all the way around about 1/2 " from the edge, Mark it.

Clamp it down to a table, and router out to your half inch line that you marked.

Attach your rusty barb wire to the back of the frame, with nails or screws.

Lay your tile down how you want and glue it.

Grout it all up, same as before.

Lay centerpiece in wet grout.

Go ahead and stain while grout is still wet, Because if you get any stain in the grout, you can easily get it out with a butter knife.

Wait till it dries, and you can gloss if you would like.

Hang that beautiful piece of work up or wrap it up as a lovely present!
